Ranked within the top 200 universities in the world, the University of Liverpool is over 130 years old and is a founding member of the prestigious Russell Group, comprising the 24 research-intensive universities in the UK. Based on our city-center campus, students will live and study in the heart of one of the most dynamic and vibrant cultural hubs in Britain, as well as have access to all the facilities and services offered by this world-class university. The University of Liverpool International Summer School (LISS) is an opportunity to study with students from all over the world, experiencing academic life in the vibrant city of Liverpool. This 3- or 6-week course is a chance for students to sample what the University has to offer through on-campus studying credit-bearing academic classes and draws on the University's expertise across our three research-intensive faculties. Students will be in class for between 6 and 16 hours each week, depending on their module choices. In addition, students will be expected to supplement this with self-directed study. Students coming for 3 weeks will choose either three 1-unit classes or one 4-unit class. For 6-week students, this is doubled. Full 6-week program: June 12 – July 22 Session 1: June 12 – July 1 Session 2: June 30 – July 22 Accommodation: All students live in self-catered, on-campus accommodation, in a studio bedroom with a private bathroom. 24-hour security and Residential Advisors are on hand to help develop a safe and supporting environment. Social program: We arrange a number of exciting social activities designed to help new arrivals get to know their fellow students and to see a little of the city of Liverpool and the surrounding area. Included in the course fee are: Welcome meal, evening social event, Liverpool city tour, a day trip to a North West England/British tourist destination (2019 saw trips to the Castles of Wales and Chatsworth House stately home), graduation ceremony, and farewell lunch. In addition, there are evening and weekend activities which are free of charge or subsidized. These can range from day trips to weekend journeys further way, as well as local adventures within our great city.
