How to Apply

STEPS TO APPLY TO STUDY AWAY:

To begin the process of applying to study away, there are a few steps students will need to complete first in person.

Step 1: Attend an Information Meeting

At these meetings we will discuss different program options, requirements, steps, and deadlines. We hold these various times each week and you can stop by the Global Engagement Office in International Hall 107 or call our front desk at (707) 664-2582 to sign-up. Advanced sign-up is required!

Virtual Information Meetings are now available as the campus is operating remotely. For more information on Virtual Study Away Information Meetings and how to participate, visit our Information Meetings webpage

*Non-SSU Students: If you are a non-SSU student interested in participating in a Summer Faculty-Led program, please email hope.ortiz@sonoma.edu to complete this step.

Step 2: One-on-one Appointment with Advisor

Once you have attended an Information Meeting and considered your options, you will meet with an advisor to identify the best program for you and your academic goals, discuss requirements, and create an application timeline.

Step 3: Application Approval

The study abroad advisor will review your application online to make sure it is ready for submission, and then email you with feedback. This is also an opportunity to double check important program information.

Step 4: Submit your application!

Along the way you will get assistance from the study away advisor, as well as the GEO Student Ambassadors. Most study away programs require faculty recommendations. All of these requirements and more are discussed at the meetings above.
